The rule of thirds can make or break a picture in the simplest of ways. It is simply shown by dividing the screen into nine even blocks. Almost every camera will have an option to have the grid shown (EX: iPhones, Samsung, Canon.) To the left is a good example of how the rule of thirds can be applied to better the composition of a photograph.
How do I use it?
Simply by aligning your subject along the grid lines - whether it be at the cross-point or along the line itself - it can better the appeal of your photograph before it is even taken. Some people use this technique without even knowing about it. Just use these lines as a guide to direct your camera direction and capture a visually satisfying photo.
